    I did a restore on the same host from one domain to another and I had no issues.

    I did a restore on the same host from one domain (same one as above) to a subdomain and I get the following error:

    Warning: copy(): The first argument to copy() function cannot be a directory in /home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 243
    Move /home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-content/mu-plugins -> /home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-content/mu-plugins-old: Failed. Destination Directory UID=504, GID=513. Effective/real user IDs of the current process: 504/504. Effective/real group IDs of the current process: 513/513.
    Error message: Could not move old files out of the way. You should check the file ownerships and permissions in your WordPress installation (/home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-content/mu-plugins)
    Restore failed…

    Move /home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-content/mu-plugins -> /home3/ll4htj83/intranet.awesomemode.com/wp-content/mu-plugins-old: Failed. Destination Directory UID=504, GID=513.     I don’t understand why moving it to another domain on the same host worked but moving it to another subdomain on the same host failed. Any ideas what the problem is?

    Hi,

    There appears to be a file permission/ownership issue, meaning UpdraftPlus or WordPress does not have the correct read or write permission to a certain folder or file.

    Thank you Bryle. I am updating all permissions on the subdomain I am migrating to. Do I need to update all permissions on the subdomain migrating from as well and then start the migration from scratch (so that it uses a copy with the correct permissions)?

    So I redid all the permissions. It did not work. So I deleted every thing where I was migrating to and started fresh and failed again… then I did it a couple more times and it failed every time. Then I did this:

    Hostgator, for some crazy reason, likes to setup their default wordpress installation with dashboard>settings>permalinks>Custom Structure. I switched Custom Structure to Post Name and saved before migrating to it.

    And the migration worked.

    No idea why that worked. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    It is possible that the default installation contained a custom .htaccess file that included a rule that was causing the issue. Overwriting the permalink structure may have overwritten that rule.
