We’ve been doing a lot of work on our “internals” in the last few weeks – web servers, update servers, graceful handling of coupons for renewals + upgrades, etc. The ever-increasing popularity of UpdraftPlus has forced this on us. We’ve been aiming to build infrastructure that’ll last us for a long time. We’ve been aiming to build something solid enough that we can sell some of the components to other premium plugin authors – more on that another time!

As part of this, in the next week or two we should have available on-site direct debit and credit card payments – so those who can’t or won’t use PayPal can check-out. Also, we plan to shortly afterwards add the capability to take payments in pounds sterling (GBP) as well as US dollars, for both payment methods (i.e. both PayPal and direct cards). So, if problems with PayPal or reluctance to convert from sterling into USD were the reason why you’d not yet purchased – then watch this space!

Next week too you should see the release of the next minor update to UpdraftPlus – no new features, but a list of small tweaks for better usability and hints about solving problems, based on your feedback. This update also adds something important – it’ll show you a message in your dashboard (which you’ll be able to dismiss from the non-UpdraftPlus/non-update pages) telling you if your UpdraftPlus renewal is coming up soon (and pointing you to where to get those 40% off renewal coupons!).

One biggish feature that we have begun planning is the ability for a fresh install of UpdraftPlus to re-scan remote storage, and save some time with importing backups created on a different install. This will cut out a step or two in the process of cloning a site – no need to download the backup from one UpdraftPlus and then upload it to another. We’ll keep you posted on this!
