    Hello I get this message when trying to complete a backup:

    The folder exists, but your webserver does not have permission to write to it. You will need to consult with your web hosting provider to find out to set permissions for a WordPress plugin to write to the directory.

    I called my web server (Softlayer – IBM) and we even set the permissions to all access (777) and it wouldnt take.

    Please help.

    HI Sean,

    There’s not a lot that can be said about it from this end beyond what the message says. PHP apps apparently don’t have permission to write to that folder; something in your specific server setup needs tweaking; but only the operator of the server can know that, as they could have set up anything, and it’s not possible to know from here. If you’re sure that the DAC permissions are OK, then perhaps there are some MAC permissions? (e.g. SELinux on a Linux system).
