Where should the version of FTP be located when filling out “Connection Information”?
On the remote site where the website is hostred or on the pc I am using to view the website?

    Hi Jean,

Please can you provide me more details?
Usually, UpdraftPlus settings are all found within your website.

    Bryle

We have a remote mac mini that we bought in order to host our two websites.
We log intothe mac mini from a windows 10 machine here in our home,
I make changed to the website from the windows 10 machine.
I tried to install the UpdraftPlus from the Windows 10 machine but did not know what to fill in to the Hostname blank
Then I did not know what FTP account to use.
I thought I should use FTP on the mac mini computer, so I did a remote login from the windows 10 machine to the mac mini.
I ran Safari and brought up the admin mode of the program so I could install Updragtplus plugin. (potrerogatewaypark.org/admin)
The hostmane wes already set as potrerogatewaypark.org
    The FTP was: coles
    I entered my husband’s password.
    The response was:
Installing Plugin: UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin 1.16.15
Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)
This is my husbands FTP account.
I can see a directory structure:
    Server HD->Library->Server->Web->Data->Sites->potrerogatewaypark.org->wp-content

Why is that FTP account not able to locate it?
My husband says I should make a new ftp account and have its home directory be potrerogatewaypark.org.
    Does that make sense?

    We made an ftp account
Now we get the error message
    Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/updraftplus.1.16.15.zip
    Unpacking the package…
    Could not create directory./wp-content/upgradeplus.tmp
    Return to Plugin Installer

I’m guessing there is no permission to create a directory there?

    Hi Jean,

Yes, please can you check if you have read/write permission on the “wp-content” folder?

We fixed the read/write permission and were able to install the plugin.
However, when I activate the plugin I get the error:
“The plugin does not have a valid header”
We have WP 3.5.2 and PHP 5.3.28
The object here is to upgrade both WP and PHP, but need to make a backup first.

    Hi Jean,

It appears that the plugin is missing some files. Can you try to re-install or re-upload the plugin again?
You will to delete the plugin first before re-installing.

    Regards,
    Bryle
