Hi there,
can anyone help me to sort out the cause of the error?! I don’t get it from the log.It keeps happening since a couple of weeks. I did restore a previous backup, but on the first new attempt to back up the site, I’ve still run into the same issue.
You can have a look at the log files here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w5af4pzt51v4dh7/log.39c4d58740a4.txt?dl=0

Please can you update to today’s 2.16.37 release? I think this should fix the problem for you.

thanks for the quick reply…unfortunately, even after updating the issue showed.
Log files looks quite similar to the one I already linked to.Can you advise, please?!

November 24, 2020 at 12:03 pm #731870udadminKeymasterPlease can you post a link to the new log file, downloaded at least 50 minutes after starting the backup? They no doubt do look similar, but the details are very important.
Thank you,
DavidNovember 24, 2020 at 12:36 pm #731883mark.theowl.wallsParticipantNovember 26, 2020 at 10:53 pm #735029udadminKeymasterHi Mark,
Sorry for being slow. I can see in the log that it is attempting to fetch smaller numbers of rows than before, but that that still isn’t enough.
Please can you replace wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/backup.php with this file? https://we.tl/t-auKCYAOZBk . And then try a new backup. This won’t make it succeed, but it adds more logging to allow me to see more closely what’s going on.
Also, if you can look in your PHP error log to see what is being logged at the time that you run a backup, that would be very helpful.

thanks for your help! Take your time, no problem at all!I’m no site builder…checking the error log didn’t come to mind :(
Maybe it is a memory issue…have a look!Latest updfraft log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/snjqp3nt35h947u/log.237251e6374b.txt?dl=0

MarcoDecember 3, 2020 at 11:23 am #746324udadminKeymasterHi,
Thank you!
It appears that you have a single cell in your database (the smallest unit that can be fetched for a backup) with around 88MB in it, which is huge. This is resulting in PHP out-of-memory errors when processing it. Looking at the code, I think I see a way to require less memory when processing it. Whether it’ll be enough in your case, we can only know by testing. Please can you replace the file
wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/backup.php
with this file – https://we.tl/t-FqWAsiUFbK – and then run a fresh backup and see what’s happened an hour later? The backup log and PHP error log will then be really helpful again.Thank you,
DavidDecember 3, 2020 at 12:06 pm #746353mark.theowl.wallsParticipantHi, David
thanks for your effort! It seems it worked (no errors!) – yesterday I did change something in the tables (with WP Optimize).
Here’s the error log and the backup log:

MarcoDecember 3, 2020 at 12:11 pm #746355udadminKeymasterHi,
Thank you – yes, that looks good, and I can see that this time it successfully processed the cell it was having trouble with.

The file you sent me will be overwritten in future updates of the plugin: should I keep a copy or some lines to add?Thank you for helping me out: I really appreciate your kindness and support,
Marco
