When I tried to update UpdraftPlus today, I have been stuck on the update screen for almost 2 hours now, with a strange message:
Creating backup with UpdraftPlus…
Backup succeeded (view log…) – now proceeding with the updates…
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/f34cxe19drgf/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/addons/autobackup.php:526)in/home/f34cxe19drgf/public_html/wp-

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

We’ve just released a fix to that issue.
Can you update the plugin to the latest version 2.23.3.x?
Let us know if that works.Kind Regards,
BryleMarch 17, 2023 at 3:59 pm #1737905JohnParticipantTrying to update to 2.23.3.x results in the same error message. I also have a WordPress message that says, “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” WHen I click on the link for please attempt the update again now, it takes me back to the same place where I start to try to update the plugin. Please advise.
Thanks.

There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.March 17, 2023 at 4:06 pm #1737911JohnParticipantIf this helps, I am trying to update from 2.23.1.26 to 2.23.3.26
March 18, 2023 at 12:33 pm #1738673Phil HendersonParticipantI’m unable to update the plugin as well. I get the Message that An automated WordPress update has failed to complete, the plugin update returns an Error -1 and the entire site goes into maintenance mode and kicks me out for several minutes.
March 18, 2023 at 12:59 pm #1738687Phil HendersonParticipantFalse alarm on my issue. I found that Astra had an issue with their plugin that was causing everything to error, I disabled it and was able to update my Updraft plugin with no issues, and the automated WordPress update message is cleared.
March 20, 2023 at 6:44 am #1740296Bryle CroduaModeratorHi Phil,
Glad you were able to fix the issue,
@john can you de-install and re-install the plugin from scratch? If the same issue might be worth checking if it is a plugin/theme conflict? Thanks,
BryleMarch 20, 2023 at 7:53 pm #1740973JohnParticipantI uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled from scratch. I am now running version 1.23.3
How do I re-authorize my Premium status on this site?
March 20, 2023 at 8:02 pm #1740987JohnParticipantNever mind!
I figured it out. I am now running 2.23.3.26 and everything looks fine. Thanks for your patience.
