We’re not sure what to call UpdraftPlus’s actual birthday. If we’re going to be picky, 5 years ago was only the date when the UpdraftPlus.com brand was born.

The backup plugin it was based on was around before; it was originally released 8 years ago as Updraft. Then 6 ½ years ago, our lead developer David Anderson took it on, tweaking, updating and adding extra features to turn it into the UpdraftPlus we have today.

We haven’t been able to leave our baby alone. We’re thrilled at all your feedback and how much over a million websites have now embraced us.

But there’s always more we can do: we’ve extended our team, drawing in global talent to expand UpdraftPlus’ features and capabilities and to optimise its design and usability. Plus, alongside all of the little general/ compatibility fixes we keep on top of, we’re constantly making little tweaks and adjustments that all contribute to making backing up smoother, easier and more flexible.

Plus, we’ve made a few acquisitions along the way: we now own WP Optimize, which helps websites to run at optimal efficiency without the need for manual requests, MetaSlider, which makes adding attractive sliders to websites child’s play, and most recently, Easy Updates Manager, which puts you in control of automating updates for WordPress core, themes and plugins. We’ve developed a Premium version of WP Optimize, which is due to be released soon alongside our best-ever new release of UpdraftCentral.

The UpdraftPlus family is growing fast, and it’s all-hands-on-deck as we maintain the very highest standards and seek to give our customers the best user experience. We’d like to thank you once again for your loyalty. Please keep your feedback, ideas and suggestions coming- we love hearing from you. After all, without you, UpdraftPlus would be nothing.
