We have a problem with the automatic backup process. In case of a WordPress update, UpdraftPlus will start the automatic backup process. This is the good part.

Within the UpdraftPlus setting we have limited the amount of backups to “1”. The backup interval is set to manually.

If the automatic UpdraftPlus backup starts – a new backup is generated. Unfortunately, the existing backup is not deleted. In the end I have two backups.

If I do a manually Backup the old Backup is deleted. Only one will be kept.

What is wrong? Why does the automatic backup process keeps the old backup file?

    Any help?

    Hi,

This is being answered in a support ticket, but I will copy the answer here for information:

Automatic backups are not counted towards the retain settings. This prevents full scheduled or manual backups being overwritten by the automatic backups (which only backup the part of the site that is being updated).

When a non-automatic backup next runs (i.e. a manual or scheduled backup), the backups will be pruned to back to 1.
If you wish to delete automatic backups before then, you can so manually in the ‘Existing Backups’ tab.
