I recently purchased the Additional Database add-on, and I am having some trouble getting it configured. I want to be able to backup a second database.

The add-on is installed, and I’ve tried several ways to configure the additional database, but I keep getting a Connection Failed error. Would there be firewall if this is all on the same host? What else might be causing the connection failure? Is the username and p/w the a database user, or the user for the host? (I’ve tried all of these possibilities.)

Connection failed: check your access details, that the database server is up, and that the network connection is not firewalled.

    Hi Phil,

The user details to enter are the username and password for the database itself (in the same manner as the database configuration settings in wp-config).

If the database is on the same host as your site, you could try using ‘localhost’ in the Host field.

It is possible that a firewall is blocking the connection, even if the database and site are on the same host.

Beautiful. Changing the server to localhost did the trick. Thanks.

Also, once I connected to the server I was impressed that if I didn’t have “username_” in front of the database name, Updraft gave me a very helpful and polite message that that might be the problem. Well done.

    Glad you got it sorted!
