And I know why it’s not working. I’m using a plugin to stop WordPress automatic updates. Because I have automatic updates blocked, UpdraftPlus won’t prompt me to upgrade to Premium. If I turn off the “stop updates” plugin, WordPress will update and crash some plugins. We’ve all had this happen.

I have a second site that is only a month old. I felt comfortable turning off the stop-automatic-updates plugin on that site and was able to upgrade to UpdraftPlus with the addons with no problems.

I thought I would could work around the problem by copying the contents of the addons folder in site 2 to the addons folder on site 1. Of course this didn’t work.

Is there a way to force the upgrade on site 1 without turning off the stop-automatic-updates plugin?

    Hi Ryan,

Because I have automatic updates blocked, UpdraftPlus won’t prompt me to upgrade to Premium.

If that’s the case, then I’d recommend switching to a different “block automatic updates” plugin. It sounds like your current one is doing it in a bad/wrong way, perhaps by blocking the obtaining of information on updates *availability* (which it shouldn’t), instead of blocking the actual update itself. WordPress has separate hooks for these two things, and it sounds like the plugin you’re using is doing it in the wrong place. It should still allow updates to be checked for, and show – but just block at the deployment stage.

Thank you for the reply. I found a different plugin and that solved the problem.
