    Hi,

Apologies for the simple question but I am intrigued as to how the back up works when I save it to my Dropbox.

Is the backup placed on my host in a tmp folder, uploaded to Dropbox via whose internet link ? – and then deleted ? Does my upload internet speed make a difference or not in this process ?

Everything is working fine but I am just curious. Please could someone explain how the uploading works to the cloud/off site location. It works very well but I would just to like understand the process.

    Many thanks

    Stephen

    Hi Stephen,

    When a backup is taken:

    • The backup files are created on the server in the wp-content/updraft directory
    • UpdraftPlus then uploads each backup file one at a time to your remote storage
    • After each backup file is confirmed as having been uploaded, it is deleted from the server

Your internet speed does not affect the upload (unless you are using a localhost test site), but the connection speed between the server and Dropbox will affect the upload speed.

    Best Wishes,
    David
