Lately I am having alot of trouble with Restore operations. I have the latest version of the paid plugin installed and when I attempt to restore with all 5 files selected it will timeout and fail. I then try them individually and depending on the file size anything over 10mb it will fail. I then get a message to “Continue Restoration” for and I try that about 10 times and then give up. So …
1. Is there any back to make the restore files smaller on the site I am backing up?
2. How can I troubleshoot the timeout?

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the latest restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
The log will be too long to post directly, but you can copy the contents into an online tool (such as https://pastebin.com/ ) and post the link.Best Wishes,

Ended up doing it via FTP for all 4 sites.
June 30, 2016 at 10:24 pm #162555udadminKeymasterHi Jason,
It’s likely that your web hosting company either has configured a really short maximum time that PHP processes (i.e. WordPress + its plugins, in this case) are allowed to run for, and/or a low limit on the amount of disk input/output (i.e. read/write) that PHP is allowed to do … and that, via that, it’s killing off UpdraftPlus quicker than it’s possible to unzip that 15Mb zip file. In that situation, unzipping manually on your PC and uploading via FTP is the right thing to do.
