Hi There
I am getting the following error :
UpdraftPlus – Restore backup
Restore backup from: 2013-08-15 10:39
Downloading / preparing backup files…Error: the server sent us a response (JSON) which we did not understand.
I am restoring onto WP 3.7.1
The backup I am using came from a previous WP version, not 3.7.1, but the exact version number, I cannot tell you unfortunately, but probably around 3.6
Please assist.
Regards

Does that happen every time?
If so, then there may be some more information logged in your browser’s developer/JavaScript console. Usually, it’s Control-Shift-J to show that. Does it show anything?
If not, then your PHP error logs on your server might show something. Do let us know what it says…
Migrating from older to newer shouldn’t be a problem in itself (the other way round may be).

Can I send you some WP logins so that you can have a look? I cannot seem to come right! What email address can I send the logins to?

I have sent an email to [email protected] . PLease let me know if you manage to identify the issue.
I am able to backup and restore other sites on the server, so I do not believe that it is a server setup issue.

The database file uploaded into that site is corrupt – it’s full of gibberish. Do you have another copy? If it’s somewhere like Dropbox, than can you share the folder with me so that I can see if the original is also corrupt, or if it’s just this uploaded version?

I have shared it for you on dropbox. YOu should get a dropbox invitation for the folder that contains the DB shortly.

The file in there was also corrupt, unfortunately.
Is that the original Dropbox folder that the backup was made to? I’m interested in that question, because it’s possible that if this file came from downloading via the UpdraftPlus settings page (rather than being the original), then the original backup file is fine (if it can be accessed), but that some other plugin on the site interfered with the download from the settings page.

I backup to ftp, and have a copy on the ftp server too. I will look and see if I can give you access to the ftp on Monday ….
Thanks for your help so far!Regards
