    Every time i try to update UpdraftPlus i get this error: Could not copy file. C:/wamp/www/kunder/Yangguan.dk – copy – testimonails worked – menu did not work/wp-content/upgrade/udm_actiondownloadslugupdraftplusmuid1tokenea2494e3751eb2306e05f052b1931cf6/updraftplus/oc/rs/lib/OpenCloud/CloudMonitoring/Exception/NotificationPlanException.php

    This is on a local machine.

    Hi Johnny,

    You’ve come up against WAMP’s 256-character filename limit problem there.

    The path “C:/wamp/www/kunder/Yangguan.dk – copy – testimonails worked – menu did not work/wp-content/upgrade/udm_actiondownloadslugupdraftplusmuid1tokenea2494e3751eb2306e05f052b1931cf6/” is 263 characters long.

    UpdraftPlus is only contributing 87 of those characters (updraftplus/oc/rs/lib/OpenCloud/CloudMonitoring/Exception/NotificationPlanException.php). The others are coming from the path for your WAMP installation (C:/wamp/www/kunder/Yangguan.dk – copy – testimonails worked – menu did not work/) – 80 characters – and WordPress’s internal choice of a temporary folder in which to unpack the plugin before installing (wp-content/upgrade/udm_actiondownloadslugupdraftplusmuid1tokenea2494e3751eb2306e05f052b1931cf6/ – 95 characters).

    Your best bet for an easy solution would be to shorten the path name for the WordPress install – i.e. C:/wamp/www/kunder/Yangguan.dk – copy – testimonails worked – menu did not work – get rid of as many characters there as you can (you only seem to need to lose 10 characters in order to make things work, but of course it’d be best to minimise it, or you may have the problem again with another plugin).

    Actually… I think you may be able to succeed without any changes now.

    We found that by tweaking the update server, we could get WordPress to choose a much shorter temporary folder (instead of udm_actiondownloadslugupdraftplusmuid1tokenea2494e3751eb2306e05f052b1931cf6).
