I bought the update to create folders in my dropbox for back ups and de-installed the free version.
After downloading the new plugin zip file i tried to install it but got the following error:—-
Installing Plugin from uploaded file: updraftplus.zip
Install package not available.Return to Plugins page
—-It looks to me the zip file was incomplete, or is it something else?

To test if the zip file you have download is incomplete, unzip it on your computer – does it give any errors when you do so?
Having read the WordPress code to see what causes the message “Install package not available”, I think the problem is with your WordPress install. Are you able to download *any* plugin and upload it using that interface? e.g. Can you go to https://wordpress.org/plugins/no-weak-passwords/ and download the plugin and upload it without that error appearing?
In either case, you can resolve the issue by uploading the plugin via FTP:
1) Unzip it on your computer. There should be a resulting folder “updraftplus”
2) Upload it into the directory wp-content/plugins in your website (i.e. it becomes wp-content/plugins/updraftplus)Then go to the ‘Plugins’ page to activate it, and carry on with the rest of the setup tasks.
Best wishes,

Yes I have had no issues with this method before, I will try the ftp method now.
Thanks

I don’t know how to open a new topic here so I write here.
The migration of my offline site at Xampp to my webspace went great. No problem at all.
I tried to do it the other way around (from the webspace to the local xampp) but it does not work at all.It messes up the data base somehow.
Now I have updated everything. New Xampp, newest wordpress, newest theme, all plug ins new. I can activate and install the updraftplus 1.8.1. with no problem. I can even activate the paid migration add on, but then I am forced to update the thing to 1.8.1.5 or so. When I do this the whole plugin is gone. No more in the plugin list. Just gone.
Is there a place where I could download the 1.8.1.5 directly or any other trick I did not think about ?I did spend the whole day on this problem….no fun.
Thanks!

The link for a new thread is on this page – search for the words “New Topic” – https://updraftplus.com/forums/support-forum-group1/paid-support-forum-forum2.0/ – please do start a new thread, as the original author of this thread won’t want to receive emails about your issue.
Also, do check your UpdraftPlus version – the current version is 1.8.5; are you sure you’ve got 1.8.1?
Best wishes,

Actually, this is now fixed. It was a server issue at our end. If you de-install and then re-install, then all should work now.
Many thanks,
DavidJanuary 24, 2014 at 5:43 pm #18560udadminKeymasterP.S. Sorry for the trouble!
David
