I wish to migrate my site using Dropbox storage. It seems to connect to Dropbox okay but when I try to retrieve the backup data, I get the following:
Download uploads (Jan 10, 2017 22:50):
Error: Download failed
The requested URL returned error: 400
The requested URL returned error: 400The console just says that the remote fetch failed.
I don’t use Rackspace at all but the ‘last log message’ says: Cloud Files authentication URL: https://auth.api.rackspacecloud.com (Jan 11 01:44:41)
And here is the end of the log file (URLs redacted):

If you delete local backups then remote retrieval may have failed. In the meantime I will upload the backups manually so no hurry but if you could look into this at some point I would be most grateful. Thank you!
January 11, 2017 at 9:57 am #188578aporterModeratorHi Mike,
This is a known bug that is affecting some users, the recommended solution is to manually upload the backup. I’m having difficulty reproducing the bug, which means I can not fix the issue.
It seems to be a very specific setup causing the issue.
Would you be able to provide me with some more information to try and help reproduce the bug.
If you could provide the full backup log, it’s probably to big to post here but you could use something like pastebin and share that link here. Also could you confirm what folder in Dropbox your backup is located in? (i.e UpdraftPlus or UpdraftPlus.com) and when the backup was taken.
Best Wishes,
Ashley
January 11, 2017 at 10:23 pm #188698MikeParticipantThanks Ashley
If it’s a specific setup issue then I’m not too worried about it – this is a client site and I’m unlikely to set up any more websites on the same server. The host is 1and1 by the way.
The Dropbox directory is apps/UpdraftPlus.Com/
I just tested the same UpdraftPlus/Dropbox setup on my own server and had no problems.
I’m happy to leave this for now and only come back to it if I run into the same problem again in future. Let me know if you want the log anyway.
Kind regards
Mike
January 12, 2017 at 6:57 pm #188848Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Mike,
The issue appears to be limited to older backups or authenticated sites that were created before the switch to the newer Dropbox remote storage method.
Could you possibly give the dates for the following? This will help us debug the issue.
- When the backup set was created
- When the site was first connected to Dropbox
- Which Dropbox folder the backups are stored in
