Is it possible to reopen a closed topic? Specifically #1972853.
November 30, 2023 at 11:56 pm #1972853Stephanie FarberParticipantWe have UpdraftPlus (2.23.14.26) set to upload copies of backups via SFTP to an off-server location on all sites in our farm. All has been well since 2021 until recently when we began getting this error message on five of our sites: “SFTP / SCP: Fingerprints don’t match.”
1. Using the Test SFTP Settings button in the settings results in:
SFTP settings test result: Failed: We are unable to match the fingerprint.’, ‘updraftplus’).’ ‘.__(‘However, we were able to log in and move to the indicated directory and successfully create a file in that location. The server’s RSA key MD5 fingerprint: . The server’s RSA key SHA256 fingerprint:.
It appears UDP is attempting to submit ‘updraftplus’ as the RSA fingerprint. Furthermore, there is no file created in the destination folder.
2. If the RSA fingerpint is removed we get this “success” message using the Test SFTP Settings button:
SFTP settings test result: Success The server’s RSA key MD5 fingerprint: . The server’s RSA key SHA256 fingerprint: .
3. The messages in 2 & 3 are verbatim: I have not removed any RSA fingerprints from the messages.
4. Although the settings state that an RSA fingerprint is not essential, backups will not upload via SFTP without it even though we get the “success” message (in #2).
5. All other sites on the SAME SERVER are not having this issue even though ALL of our sites across multiple servers use – and have been using – the same fingerprint since a) inception in 2021 and b) the backups are uploaded to the same off-site server. Thus, this is not a server-level problem at either end – it is apparently a plugin problem.
6. Rolling back to an archived version of UDP (2.22.19.25) restores a fingerprint match and successful uploads. However, “The installed version of UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore has not been tested on your version of WordPress (6.3.2). It has been tested up to version 6.0”. The only version we can upgrade to is the one that doesn’t work.
I cannot find a list of previous versions of UDP to download and test to determine in which version the failure begins in.
Please advise.

Please can you ask your host/server admin to check on the connection and make sure it is not blocked?
December 2, 2023 at 5:45 pm #1974792Stephanie FarberParticipantI don’t think that is the issue: Denial at the FTP server would be by IP and other apps on the same IP have no problem with negotiating the SFTP connection using the exact same RSA fingerprint. A key point in my OP was also missed: if I roll back to an outdated version of UDP the test is passed with a returned matching fingerprint AND uploads from UDP to the server do occur.

Apologies for the delay over the weekend and for the inconvenience caused.
I’ve been assigned to this to assist you in working out the issue. We’ve tried to replicate the issue on our end, but we can’t seem to find a way to produce the same error as yours. Could you let us know the SFTP/SCP settings you have on the website that appears to have experienced the issue?, how many SFTP/SCP accounts were added to the UDP
SFTP/SCP
storage setting, and for the problematic SFTP settings, does it have RSA private key included in the settings? Thanks

I suspect that this issue could be due to plugin conflicts between UpdraftPlus and some other plugins, we have a few users reporting 3rd party library conflict in UpdraftPlus. Would you mind take a look at your WP’s plugins page and see if one of the following plugins is installed and active in your website
WP All Import Pro
All-in-One WP Migration and All-in-One WP Migration FTP Extension
If none of those plugins are installed and active in your website, could you please send us the failure emails or any debugging messages you have.
Thanks
AnthonJanuary 16, 2024 at 8:02 pm #2013817Stephanie FarberParticipantIt indeed was WP All Import Pro (4.8.5). Disabling it restored RSA fingerprint acceptance and regular SFTP functionality on the affected sites. We are running the latest UDP (2.23.14.26). Since we don’t need WPAIP active at all times we will leave deactivated and only temporarily reactivate when needed until UDP and/or Soflyy provide a fix.
Thanks again for the great support and let me know if there is any info I can provide to help arrive at a solution.
January 17, 2024 at 2:33 am #2014063Anthonius Alfred AndreasModeratorHi Stephanie,
I’m glad that the workaround (deactivating WPAIP) resolved the issue for you. Fortunately, we already have a solution for this issue and our development team is currently working on a tweak to prevent 3rd party library conflict with other plugins and to make UpdraftPlus work when both are activated. If all goes well, I believe the tweak will be added in the next release of UpdraftPlus.
Thanks
