    Trying to restore the live site DB on staging, which has worked before.

    Now it gets stuck at

    Processing table (InnoDB): wp_postmeta - will restore as: 7u_postmeta
    tage":"db","data":{"stage":"table","table":"wp_XXXXXX_postmeta"}}"db","data":{"stage":"table","table":"wp_postmeta"}}Database queries processed: 1000 in 305.25 seconds
    "table":"wp_postmeta"}}:{"stage":"table","table":"wp_postmeta"}}e","stage":"db","data":{"stage":"table","table":"wp_postmeta"}}Database queries processed: 1250 in 400.41 seconds
    able","table":"wp_postmeta"}}

    and from there on it gets odd. Activity log jumps “x Cleaning” goes to “Finished”, when I try to see the log I end up at the “wp maintenance screen”, going back to the WP Admin there’s a “Unfinished restoration” alert and clicking on “Continue restoration” finally presents me the MySQL server has gone away.

    Any ideas what to do?

    Hi Sam,

    Without your log this is just a guess. It looks to me like the restoration is timing out on the post meta table.
    It would be worth optimising your DB with our free plugin WordPress-Optimize (getwpo.com). This is often enough to get the restoration through.
