Hi there,
I use Google Drive to save my back-up files for several webssites. Every site has is own folder in which new back-up files are added. For example backup-websites-updraftplus/site-name
Since yesterday every site back-up creates a complete new folder backup-websites-updraftplus/site-name in which all files are added. I use version 2.24.11.26
Can you please help?
Best,
Martijn

Have you wiped your settings or anything like that?
Does this happen with every backups or is the issue intermittent?
Did this happen after an update or anything like this.
Have you reauthorised your Google Drive?
Google has recently made a few changes which may be be playing a part in this.November 26, 2024 at 5:04 pm #2304395MartijnParticipantHi Vanessa,
Yesterday I installed a new website, authorised Updraft Plus and this happened
Today I created a back-up in an existing website (no changes) and the same thing occured: it creates a complete new folder (same name as the existing one) and keeps on uploading the backup files into that folder. It seems to create a new folder once, and all backup files end up there. Even with a second backup.
Best regards,
Martijn

Currently, Google’s scope only permits access to folders and files created by the specific app.
Unlike the previous version, we can no longer access all folders and files. It used to be possible for the Google user to decide, this option has now been taken away.
Google, again unannounced, also removed other options which allowed a user to choose.Ultimately all apps connecting with Google services have experienced these changes.
With no warning it has created problems for app users. The apps played no part in it.As the issue was due to a nuance in Google’s systems we have no way to repair it.
The issue was a temporary one and it should have now resolved. You will need to remove the extra folders.
As you can see from my explanation, our options are pretty much zero in this case.
We’re obviously sorry for the inconvenience. Even though we were not the cause of it.November 28, 2024 at 2:19 pm #2306757MartijnParticipantHi Vanessa,
Thanks for your message. I understand your explanation
I chekced it again. A new directory is first created. All backup files (also from other websites) are placed in this directory. Now that I know that’s how it works, it’s no problem for me. It’s annoying that Google works like this without notice.
Thanks again
