Hi,
In the Settings area, I have configured to backup “Any other directories found inside wp-content” but there are also some exception rules that are not working. One of them is the Updraft directory which I don’t want to backup since it doesn’t make sense. How can I make this work? Because of that not working fine I get a Warning email about large files and also the size of the backup is increased artificially.
Thanks in advance!
February 25, 2019 at 9:16 am #356289udadminKeymasterThe exclusion of the internal temporary directory is prevented even if you don’t include it in your exclusion settings. If you’re seeing it being included, please can you post a link to the log file so that we can look at that? e.g. Use pastebin.com, or share a Dropbox link, etc.

Here is the URL of the log file:href=”https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aVvpb2ek1L5jk6s-YhHTsnho-KLGjbAb/view?usp=sharing”There you will see that the wp-content/updraft is actually included in the backup.
Thanks!
February 26, 2019 at 4:57 pm #356843udadminKeymasterHi Michael,
The log file is showing something different to your description. The folder “updraft” is excluded as expected from the backup of “Any other directories found inside wp content”; but, a separate/additional backup of the folder ‘plannertuts.com/planacademy.com/secure’ has been configured, and that backs up everything inside that directory. If you want to specifically exclude a folder from that backup that is within that directory, the easiest way to do so is to include a file
.donotbackup
(including the period) inside it.David

The issue I am receiving in my email is not related with the custom directory I have added because I want to backup everything inside those directories. Please have a look at what I receive in my email:
————————————————————————————
Latest status:
The backup apparently succeeded (with warnings) and is now complete.
Backup began:
2019-02-25 19:58
Contains:
Files and database (Full backup)
Errors / warnings:
0 errors, 3 warningsWarnings
A very large file was encountered: wp-content/updraft/backup_2019-02-22-0331_Plan_Academy_87867e6d2973-uploads2.zip.tmp (size: 429.2 Mb)
A very large file was encountered: wp-content/updraft/backup_2019-02-22-0331_Plan_Academy_87867e6d2973-uploads2.zip.tmp.VemLxh (size: 429.1 Mb)
A very large file was encountered: wp-content/updraft/backup_2019-02-22-0331_Plan_Academy_87867e6d2973-uploads.zip (size: 498.7 Mb)
Note that warning messages are advisory – the backup process does not stop for them. Instead, they provide information that you might find useful, or that may indicate the source of a problem if the backup did not succeed.Time taken:
1 hours, 2 minutes, 3 seconds
Uploaded to:
Dropbox
————————————————————————————As you can see the files mentioned in the warning email are: wp-content/updraft/backup_*
Is this a normal behavior? Why would the temp files be added in the backup file?
Thanks!
