    Hello,

I’m having a tough time wrapping my head around our backup schedule.

I would like to achieve the following:

    File Backups –
Keep 60 days worth of daily backups. When a daily backup is older than 60 days delete it.
Keep 6 months worth of weekly backups. When a weekly backup is older than 6 months delete it.
Keep 1 year of monthly backups. When a monthly backup is older than 12 months delete it.

    Database Backups
Keep 14 days worth of hourly backups. When a hourly backup is older than 14 days delete it.

    Thanks in advance 🙌

    Hi Brent,

I’m afraid that our backup system is not able to split backups into separate daily, weekly and monthly schedules.
However, using the additional retention settings, we can approximate what you want to achieve:

    File backup schedule:

[Daily] starting from next time it is [00:00] and retain this many scheduled backups: [84]
For backups older than [60][days] keep no more than 1 backup every [1][week]
For backups older than [26][weeks] keep no more than 1 backup every [4][weeks]
For backups older than [52][weeks] keep no more than 1 backup every [52][weeks]

    Database backup schedule:

[Every hour] starting from next time it is [00:00] and retain this many scheduled backups: [238]
For backups older than [14][days] keep no more than 1 backup every [1][day]
For backups older than [60][days] keep no more than 1 backup every [1][week]
For backups older than [26][weeks] keep no more than 1 backup every [4][weeks]
For backups older than [52][weeks] keep no more than 1 backup every [52][weeks]

Please note, this schedule will generate and retain a very large number backups at a time.
For the file backups, you may instead wish to take weekly backups, with daily increments, to save on space and server load.

    Best Wishes,
    Dee
