It seems others are reporting this as well. Backups are all failing on 30+ sites. The error message is the same all around:
Dropbox: chunked upload exception (Dropbox_BadRequestException): (line: 225, file: /home4/[website-directory]/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox2/OAuth/Consumer/Curl.php)During a manual backup, the files do attempt to upload and appear to get partially complete before the error is thrown.
I’ve attempted to disconnect and reconnect sites but that doesn’t seem to resolve anything. I also set up a Google Drive connection and that seemed to work fine – and local backups work as well, so the issue appears isolated to Dropbox.

The log shows:
“0300.978 (1) Dropbox: chunked upload exception (Dropbox_BadRequestException): (line: 225, file: /home4/cgsinvestmentsll/public_html/demo/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox2/OAuth/Consumer/Curl.php)”Please can you re-authenticate your Dropbox remote storage?
After re-authentication, can you run a test backup and see if you get the same error. And also could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.
To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb save your settings and run a new process.
If the issue persists, please ask your hosts/server admin to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.
Regards,
BryleJuly 1, 2020 at 11:30 am #609215SharifParticipantHi Bryle, I’ve already done both of these things as part of my troubleshooting process prior to opening a thread. The result is the same. The backups begin to upload to dropbox and just 10% or 20% in it fails. I initially opened a support ticket with my host because it seemed like the problem was on their end, but when I started looking at the forum and saw the number of folks also experiencing this, I realized something larger was going on.
I have asked my host to look at the PHP error logs as you requested and am awaiting a response.

We are currently investigating this issue.
Could you please check what version of Curl is installed? This will be found in UpdraftPlus Advanced Tools -> Site information page.Regards,

July 1, 2020 at 5:38 pm #609493SharifParticipantResponse from my host:
“I have checked the error logs and I couldn’t find any error logs related o this issue. Could you please contact the plugin developer and get back to us if any need any server side assistance.”July 1, 2020 at 7:45 pm #609599BobParticipantI have the same issue after updating to the latest version of the UpdraftPlus plugin on several sites. My regularly scheduled backups to Dropbox have been occurring without error as recently as a few days ago, and I’m just getting this Dropbox upload error today. I thought I’d try a manual backup on a site without updating UpdraftPlus to the latest version and it completed and uploaded to Dropbox successfully without errors.
July 1, 2020 at 8:24 pm #609622KeithParticipantI am also having the same problem.
July 1, 2020 at 9:05 pm #609659georgeyoderParticipantSame here
July 1, 2020 at 9:46 pm #609712GeertParticipantHere the same problems!
Maybe a direction for the resolution;
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-API-Support-Feedback/Dropbox-authentication-error-with-UpdraftPlus-from-Wordpress/m-p/420124#M22563Whas that time solved by DropBox.
July 2, 2020 at 2:28 am #609822PeteParticipantSame issue here. Just posting a comment so I’m notified when a fix is available or applied.
July 2, 2020 at 11:03 am #610027TeoParticipant@Sharif I just finished testing a beta of a fix on our servers via my other support ticket. It seems to be working – they are planning an updated version to handle newer versions of Curl.
July 2, 2020 at 1:12 pm #610108SharifParticipantAwesome @Teo thanks for letting me know!
