The next release of UpdraftPlus Premium will add a new capability for Amazon S3 users – specifically, the ability to use S3’s “Server Side Encryption” feature, which is described by Amazon here.

UpdraftPlus Premium already has the capability to encrypt your WordPress database backup before sending it to S3, and this is more useful than server-side encryption (it works with all storage methods, and encryption client-side is superior to server-side). However, the fact is that in the real world, some organisations have defined requirements for their data storage, and for some people that can boil down to a policy that they are required to follow of “when using Amazon S3, use server-side encryption”. So, if you’re one of those who wanted S3 SSE – you’ve got it!
