Automatic Backup

The main reason I bought your Automatic Backup software was the ease of backing up. Yesterday (6-11) I did some SEO updates and I didn’t see if my website was backed up. When I do it manually, I back it up to DropBox. Nothing from yesterday was there. On my Premium/Extension tab there is a grean check mark on Automatic Backup Version 2.3. Where is it being backed up to, if it is being backed up?

Hi David,

If the automatic backups are completing, then they will be stored in the same location in Dropbox.
You can check the status of the backups in the Existing Backups tab. Automatic backups are labelled as such. Does the backup appear in the list?

If so, could you send us a copy of the backup log? This will be too long to post directly, but you can use an online service to share the file and post the link here. You can also set the reply to private.

Hi David,

Could you install the free plugin WP-Crontrol? This will allow you to see all scheduled tasks that WordPress is handling.

Then could you navigate to Tools->Cron Events, and send me a screenshot of that page? This should show any issues with the scheduler.

Hi David,

Just to clarify – the “Automatic backups” add-on will take backups automatically before a plugin or theme or WordPress core update. (Go to the ‘Updates’ or ‘Plugins’ page in your WP dashboard to update plugins/themes/WP core). You say “I did some SEO updates and I didn’t see if my website was backed up”. This wouldn’t be expected to trigger an automatic backup.
