Hi,
I’ve just bought the plugin and I can install it just fine. After installing, however, I can’t access the Updraft settings page. WordPress throws me into front-end with a 404 error. All other pages in the back-end work perfectly.
I tried installing the plugin on 3 different sites (main site, dev multisite and a fresh install of WordPress with no plugins) and the problem persisted on all 3 installations.
Any ideas on what could be wrong? I’m using the latest version of WordPress with Finnish locale.
(edit: I also tried clearing htaccess and resetting WordPress permalinks, didn’t work)
Thanks.

Does UpdraftPlus show as active in the Plugins list?
Are all three sites on the same server?Does the issue arise immediately after installing the plugin, or after activating the add-ons?

yeah, the plugin shows as active and the problem appears right after activating it. I can’t access the settings at all, so no UD add-ons are active. As far as I can tell the plugin works fine, it’s just that I can’t access the settings.
All three sites are on the same server.
(edit: I went to update some plugins on one of the installations and got a UD pop-up about backing up. So it seems the plugin is working – I just can’t get to the settings page.)
September 15, 2016 at 6:10 pm #172787Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
If possible, could you clear any caches that you use on the site, then temporarily deactivate your other plugins? Are you able to access the settings page?

done and done, didn’t help. Still can’t access settings. :(
September 16, 2016 at 8:32 pm #172925udadminKeymasterWhat is logged in your PHP and Apache error logs on the server at the time of the 404?
The normal reason for seeing a 404 on a page that’s not expected to be “not found” is that mod_security is installed on the webserver, and deciding to block the request. So, if you have mod_security, also check its logs and/or disable it.

I have forwarded this info to my service provider, as I don’t have access to Apache logs myself. PHP logs show no errors.
September 20, 2016 at 1:09 pm #173328Sari ToivonenParticipantHi,
just wanted to let you know I managed to fix the issue with my service provider. The problem was, as you mentioned, mod_security.
Thank you for all your help.
September 20, 2016 at 10:45 pm #173413udadminKeymasterHi Sari,
Thank you. Please, are you able to ask your web hosting provider to tell you exactly which mod_security rule was blocking UpdraftPlus? With this information, we might be able to prevent the same happening for others, if we can work around it.
