Greetings and sorry for the bother.

Earlier today I purchased your Migration add-on for use in migrating a site off my test server to a live (different) domain. We were not successful in any attempt at a direct transfer (repeated 403 errors) regardless of firewall configuration.

Therefore, we did a simple backup/restore. The problem with that is I now have the database username/password from the test server riding shotgun and need to change that to the new WP values. We didn’t have this problem with our previous product we used for this situation, so I am not sure if editing the database now that the site is live will cause problems. I can edit through cPanel, or the config file itself, depending on which is safer. Your recommendation?

    Hi,

It sounds like you turned on the option to replace wp-config.php from the backup? As the FAQ linked next to that option says, you almost certainly don’t want to do that: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/when-i-restore-wordpress-core-should-i-include-wp-config-php-in-the-restoration/

The best way to undo that is to replace it with the saved wp-config-old.php. However, of course, any database changes since then will have been on the wrong database, so you’ll want to be aware of that.

    David
