I recently purchased the “more database options” plugin to enable encryption for backups. The UpDraft plugin version is “2.14.8.2”

I see only one setting relevant to encryption, which is the field to enter the “Database encryption phrase”. The instructions there say: “If you enter text here, it is used to encrypt database backups (Rijndael)”.

I have entered text there, saved changes, and the backup schedule has run several times. Yet when I download one of those archives that have been created since configuring for encryption, and un-gzip it, it’s just a plain text file. No decryption required.

    What am I missing?

    Hi,

If you download the file from the UpdraftPlus settings page, then it will use your saved encryption password to perform the decryption.

If you want to download an encrypted copy, then you can do that using FTP or the file manager in your web hosting control panel.

Yes, that’s it. I can see the “.crypt” files on the server. Thanks.
