Hi, I’m using UpdraftPlus for more than 10 sites, and since March the connection to Google Drive is random. It may run 1 month, then suddenly breaks. A site can run through, or fail often.
Usually when I re-authenticate the connection it is Ok for a while, but fail again…
What can cause this ? How to fix it ?
Thanks for helpJune 7, 2017 at 11:18 am #212941Bryle CroduaModeratorHi Emmanuel,
Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

RegardsJune 7, 2017 at 3:14 pm #212998Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
From the logs, it appears that you are receiving the ‘low visitor’ warning. This indicates that there is a larger than expected gap between resumptions, which can cause issues with backups.
UpdraftPlus is only able to resume a backup when WordPress is loaded into memory. This is usually done when a user visits the site.
I would recommend setting up some dummy visits to the site at the time of the scheduled backups, spaced a few minutes apart.
More information on the warning, and suggestions for setting up dummy visits, can be found here:
https://updraftplus.com/faqs/why-am-i-getting-warnings-about-my-site-not-having-enough-visitors/Also, do you have multiple sites connected to a single Google project?
This has been known to cause connection issues. We usually recommend using a separate Google project per site if possible.Best Wishes,

I aggree that there is not much visites on the sites, but the probles occurs also for sites with more visites.
Also, when I get the error message, I am obliged to re-authenticate the linkk withe Google Drive.
So maybe there is something else which is not ok.
A have one “ID Clients OAuth 2.0” for each site on my Google account : is it what you call Google Projet ?
Thanks for help,June 8, 2017 at 5:54 pm #213277Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
Please could you send us a copy of the backup logs for some of the other affected sites?
The delay in resuming the backup may be causing the authentication token to be lost.

June 9, 2017 at 2:49 pm #213468Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
We have had several reports of issues accessing Google Drive over the past day which are related to Google’s new OAuth app verification requirements. It is possible that you are also being effected by these issues.
Please can you try joining the ‘Allow Risky Access Permissions By Unreviewed Apps’ Google group? This group was set up by Google to allow users to access personal apps without requiring the app to be reviewed under Google’s new registration process. After joining the group, please re-authenticate with Google Drive and run a fresh backup.

David NJune 11, 2017 at 1:50 pm #213738EmmanuelParticipantHey David,
I have
– joined this group
– NOT fulfilled the “OAuth Developer Verification Form” : I am not able to understand what is needed
– started re-authentification ans backup of my web sites.
I keep you updated.
Thanks and regardsJune 11, 2017 at 1:56 pm #213740EmmanuelParticipantAnother possibility :
Would it be possible that the authentification is lost wehn I delete a backup ?June 13, 2017 at 10:06 am #214041Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
Deleting a backup should have no effect on the Google authentication.
You do not need to fill in the “OAuth Developer Verification” Form. This is for public apps. Joining the group is the alternative to filling in this form.

David NJune 13, 2017 at 2:58 pm #214087EmmanuelParticipantThanks a lot, David, for your patience and help.
Here is a log for a fail backup, without “low visitor” warning
I go on withe the re-authentification process on all sites. Since I have a 1 month cycle, maybe you will not hear from me for a chile !

June 15, 2017 at 1:38 pm #214446Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
When authenticating with Google Drive, are you using a separate Google Project per site? Or are you connecting multiple sites to the same project?
We recommend setting up a separate project for each UpdraftPlus installation, as we have found that connection issues can occur if multiple sites are connected to the same app.
Best Wishes,
