Migrating Posts and media only

Hi,

I have a website with custom post types and I would like to only migrate the “posts” and the media files from that site to another as I want to create the custom post types from scratch on the new website.

How can I go about doing a custom migrate with exclusion of custom post types and all the posts within them?

Hi Nima,

I’m afraid that this is not currently possible with UpdraftPlus.

UpdraftPlus will allow you to exclude certain database tables from the backup. However, custom post types are typically store in the same table as other posts and pages.

As such, UpdraftPlus is not able to exclude specific posts or post types.

Do you have any idea how I could tackle this situation without updraftplus?

Hi Nima,

I would recommend looking into the WordPress Export/Import tools.

After migrating the posts using these tools, you can use the UpdraftPlus Search/Replace tool (found in the Advanced Tools tab) to update the URL of any links.
