Migrating site with second install in separate directory

Hi guys,

I am trying to migrate the following site https://cernevalley.co.uk from the old host to the new host. The site contains a second subsite ‘https://directory.cernevalley.co.uk’.
The host is unwilling to share FTP access for the old site but has advised me that the ‘https://directory.cernevalley.co.uk’ site is setup as a subdirectory on the main https://cernevalley.co.uk site.

Could you provide any info on the best way to migrate both?
I am assuming it does not count as a multisite install?

Hi Geoff,

Are both WordPress sites, and you can log in to the WP dashboard of both? In that case, you don’t need to know or care anything about the internals on the web hosting server; UD takes care of all that when you backup.

This isn’t a multisite, no – that refers specifically to a particular type of WordPress install (aka “WordPress Network”) in which a single WordPress install that contains multiple sites and dashboards – it’s not where you have multiple WordPress installs in the same hosting.

I have migrated the old site but I’m having trouble finding the subdirectory on the new host. The new host URL (temporary) is

https://cernevalleycouk.ipage.com

and the sub-directory I am trying to migrate is at

https://directory.cernevalley.co.uk.

Any help much appreciated!

Hi Geoff,

I don’t follow – what is it that you’re having trouble finding? I should clarify – if these are two separate WP installs, then to move them to a new host, you’d need to do two separate migrate operations; each migrate operation only clones the site that the migration operation is performed upon. It won’t bring along with it any other WP site that you had with the same web hosting company.
