Hi, I just purchased the migrator tool to migrate my wordpress site from one host to another. After having read the instructions I have a question. My understanding of the process is:

    Source:
    1. Take backup with UpdrafPlus.
    2. Deactivate and uninstall UpdrafPlus.
    3. Install UpdrafPlus with Migrator addon.
    4. Copy backed up files to local.

    Destination:
    5. Install fresh installation of Worpress.
    6. Install UpdrafPlus with Migrator addon.
    7. Restore from backed up files (or other methods).
    8. Change DNS to point to new host and test.

My question is regarding step #5, the fresh install of WordPress on the destination server. When doing so you must obviously create a new MySQL database but does the DB name and password need to match that of the Source WordPress installation? Also should the any of the other settings in the configuration match that of the source Worpress installation?

    Hi,

    >”When doing so you must obviously create a new MySQL database but does the DB name and password need to match that of the Source WordPress installation?”
No, the UpdraftPlus restoration will use the new database credentials.

    >” Also should the any of the other settings in the configuration match that of the source Worpress installation?”
No, the restoration will overwrite the settings as part of the database restoration.

    Best Wishes,
