Just tried to migrate the site from https://157.12.134.123/testarea (temp hosting space address) to https://example.com on the same hosting using Restore from existing backup and it all worked except it put everything back where it was! I didn’t see anywhere along the line a mechanism to change the website address and remove the temp IP. How can I do this please?
Thanks for the fast reply. Just to double check, go to the debugging area and in the Search for box enter https://157.12.134.123/testarea and in the Replace with add https://example.com and click Go? Just want to make sure as it does say: This can easily destroy your site; so, use it with care!
That sounds right – assuming that your webspace can be reached at https://example.com. But, even if you do enter the wrong thing, it sounds like you’ve got a backup! ;-)
Just tried the below on another site and this time I got bounced out and have now got a 404 page error. Not sure which way to turn to try and get access. The new address won’t accept web-address/wp-login.php
I don’t really want to have to do a fresh install from the back up, any help would be greatly appreciated.
