David NJuly 1, 2016 at 11:18 am #162605udadminKeymasterHi,
I am also having problems with the Updraft+migrator – it will not install. I de-activated the free WP version then deleted as per instructions in the email. I checked that the old add-on had been removed and it had. Then when I try to install the new zip file that I purchased I get the following message:Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Destination folder already exists. /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage99/vi/su/al/visualchillout.co.uk/public_html/news/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/
Plugin install failed.

Can anyone hep please?

Before installing the new version of UpdraftPlus, you will need to first delete the existing version.

DavidJuly 4, 2016 at 4:11 pm #162903udadminKeymasterThanks, I had to delete all the files & sup-folders under Updraft using FTP. However, now I am getting php & MySQL incompatibility messages when I try to do the migration – my destination server has older versions of these not compatible with the Migrator. My hosting company said I would need to go for a more expensive hosting package which is not acceptable. So I may be requiring a refund if I cannot succeed with the migration.
July 4, 2016 at 9:04 pm #162934udadminKeymasterHi Chris,
Messages about different PHP + MySQL versions when performing a restore in UpdraftPlus are advisory – UpdraftPlus won’t do anything different, or fail, because of different versions; UpdraftPlus itself runs anywhere that WordPress runs.
The warnings are there so that you are able to make an informed choice about what to do (i.e. whether you intend to run your cloned site on a different version from the original or not), and a suggestion about what to investigate, if something goes wrong (e.g. perhaps you have a plugin that’s not tested or fully working on newer PHP versions).

July 5, 2016 at 5:46 am #162967udadminKeymasterI tried again just now, the migration will not work – see error message here:
The backup archive files have been processed, but with some errors. You will need to cancel and correct any problems before retrying.
Backup of: https://visualchillout.com (version: 4.5.3)
Warnings:
This backup set was not known by UpdraftPlus to be created by the current WordPress installation, but was either found in remote storage, or was sent from a remote site. You should make sure that this really is a backup set intended for use on this website, before you restore (rather than a backup set of an unrelated website).
The site in this backup was running on a webserver with version 5.6 of PHP. This is significantly newer than the server which you are now restoring onto (version 5.3.29). You should only proceed if you cannot update the current server and are confident (or willing to risk) that your plugins/themes/etc. are compatible with the older PHP version. Any support requests to do with PHP should be raised with your web hosting company.Errors:
Error: The database backup uses MySQL features not available in the old MySQL version (5.1.70) that this site is running on. You must upgrade MySQL to be able to use this database.July 5, 2016 at 7:18 pm #163038Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Mike,
The error message indicates that the server you are migrating to is using a very old version of MySQL (5.1 was end-of-lifed in 2013). It is likely that a restoration of the database would break the site.
I would recommend contacting your hosts/server admin and asking them to update MySQL on the server. I would also recommend asking them to update PHP.

As I said earlier, to update the MySQL requires an expensive hosting upgrade which I am not prepared to do. I had to pay an SEO expert (who handles site migration) to perform the task without using Updraft migrator, therefore I will need a refund, please advise on the procedure, thank you for all your help.
