I can click on “Test SCP/SFTP Settings” and it says “SCP settings test result: Success”.

But after 3 days the Last backup job run: at the end says 2 times in red this:

    No SCP/SFTP host setting found
    No SCP/SFTP host setting found

It does save plugins, themes uploads zip files to my server. But nothing else and it has 9 zip files on it now. Because I ran it 3 times.

I guess I can’t type in WordPress as it’s backing up? Seems like it should not take very long. I could do it my self way faster by copying the files at /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/updraft to my server. But I want it to auto do it.

I can only guess that updraftplus does not wait very long to upload to my server. I know they hard drive can go to sleep after a wile and then it can take I guess up to 5 or 10 sec. for the HD to spin backup.

Doing this all from home server on my LAN. Even my WordPress. Running on low power ARM units.

The backup will just stay at:

“Uploading files to remote storage (11%, file 3 of 17)”

The backup keep counting down then resets to a lot a sec again and no change. That’s the “next resumption: 2 (after 1480s)” it counts down starts over and no change.

I hope some one can help.

    Hi Raymond,

Are you saying that the backup job runs for 3 days?

Can you post the entire log file? Use pastebin.com.

I just put the log file on pastebin.com my name Raymond_Day on there.

Looking at it I guess it is trying to use SFTP I don’t think I have that on my server. I have a check on “Use SCP instead of SFTP” Bun in the log looks like it wants to use SFTP.

I been wanted it to work for 3 days. It takes so long I guess it gives up and I don’t see the “Backups in progress:” again. Till I start it.

Right now at “Next resumption: 3 (after 4969s) Can you ate left update that to divide that number in to min. and hours if it gets that big?

So not sure where it gives up on the Next resumption. Never home when it gives up.

    Hi Raymond,

How do I find your paste, given your pastebin.com username? I typed in “Raymond_Day” in the search field, but that doesn’t show it.

Don’t be misled by the error message – it’s not that; the error message only mentions SFTP only because SCP was a later edition and the error messages didn’t all get updated.

    Here is the URL:

    https://pastebin.com/u/Raymond_Day

Maybe it could be RAYMOND_DAY not sure.

Any way I think it all ready has SFTP because I can log in to it with WinSCP.

    Thank you.

Unchecked the “Use SCP instead of SFTP” when the time went to 0 to try again it did: “Next resumption: 4” I am sure it will just not work again. Not sure what is wrong. It will save 3 zip files to the server but not the rest.

Says “Uploading files to remote storage (11%, file 3 of 17)” never gets pass that.

    Hi Raymond,

Can you post the log from the new backup also, please? The more data we get, the better.

I right clicked on “Download most recently modified log file” and said save as.

I put it on my Google drive. Let me know if you can download it from there?

    Hi Ray,

Thanks. I’ve worked it out now – sorry for being slow.

The SFTP and SCP methods aren’t “chunked”. That is, they are one-shot. They can’t upload little-by-little. If a timeout happens or network connection is dropped, then they have to re-start. It looks like PHP isn’t allowed to run long enough on your setup for it to complete an 800Mb upload.

    Possible solutions:
    – Switch to a chunked method (these are: FTP, Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud Files)
    – Or, decrease the ‘split’ setting in the ‘expert settings’ down from 800Mb – the minimum is 50Mb, try that – to limit the risk of a timeout.

    Best wishes,
    David

So what is the fix? It’s now on “next resumption: 7 (after 8832s)” It never gets over 11% or 3 or 7 files Uploading.

it’s something that it can upload 3 files but not the rest.

    Hi Ray,

    Two different fixes:
    – Switch to a chunked method (these are: FTP, Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud Files)
    – Or, decrease the ‘split’ setting in the ‘expert settings’ down from 800Mb – the minimum is 50Mb, try that – to limit the risk of a timeout.

You should just cancel the current backup run, implement one of those two fixes, and start a new one.

I had Split archives every: 2048Mb I changed it to what you said 50Mb and clicked save.

But I all so just spent about a hour setting up the Google drive. There are a lot of steps. But looks like I got it working.

now it looks like it’s trying to save it still to my server in next resumption: 7 still but on top of that the Google drive one is “Creating file backup zips (Uploads)” now.

With time I will see if it works. I have a lot of WordPress Data like some videos in it and updraftplus keeps saying “Warning: A very large file was encountered” on the videos.

I have to go to bed now. I guess will know if the Google drive worked in the morning.

I don’t know how to cancel the current backup run. I guess click on “delete schedule”?

After some time I checked in and it gives a red error “Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.” I clicked on the link near the end lots of times that says ” After you have saved your settings (by clicking ‘Save Changes’ below), then come back here once and click this link to complete authentication with Google.”

But then I seen at the top it said I need to authenticated my Google Drive and I clicked that on and then it said:

“Success: you have authenticated your Google Drive account. Your Google Drive quota usage: 3 % used, 14894.4 Mb available”

Then “Next resumption: 4 (after 18s)” so I will know soon.

Looks like it’s working. It says (33%, file 3 of 6)

Then “Last log message” “Googledrive chunked upload: 3 % uploaded (Dec 20 20:50:05)”

Just changed to 4% and 34%, file 3 of 6.

Not sure why it’s saying of 6 when the one that will not work on my home server says 3 of 17.

    Hi Raymond,

To say anything useful, I need to see the log file.

    Best wishes,
