I used Updraft Plus several years ago as a migration tool and found it worked great. After a few years though it suddenly kept telling me I was put back to the free version!!! I now need it across several sites and decided to purchase the All addons package, as I was having trouble with the Migrator. I installed it on my site http://www.russiantravelandtours.com.au, backed up the data to Dropbox, and saw we could encrypt the database, so did that. I then moved the site to new hosting and cannot restore the backup with one problem after the next. Had I known Updraft Plus would have gone downhill so badly I wouldn’t have purchased it for several sites. I installed what I thought was the Premium version, attached it to my account, used the activation for All addons. Then tried to Restore my backup. It failed because the database was encrypted (it should ask me for the key if this happens, rather than just failing). I then tried to put in a key, but the only place I could do this is if I do a manual restore. This fails because the file required is a ZIP file, but the file I’ve saved on my desktop (from the Updraft Backup) is a GZ file. I then read I can put the key in under Settings. Somewhere while doing all of this I was suddenly told I was using the free version and I had to go through the whole uninstall, reinstall, reactivate that I had just done (I’ve done this a few times now). Now it appears I have the Premium version again, if I go to settings and Encryption to put in the key, it says “Don’t want to be spied on? UpdraftPlus Premium can encrypt your database backup. It can also backup external databases. You can manually decrypt an encrypted database here. ” and directs me to the download page to get UpdraftPlus Premium, which is already installed!! What a load of rubbish, and frustrating when I have minimal time to get a website transferred and up and running. If only I’d known Updraft had gone so far downhill since I first purchased it. And now I cannot directly contact the developers to get this resolved quickly

It is possible that your backup has the free version installed and when the backup is restored it removes UpdraftPlus Premium that was installed on your site.
I suggest you install UpdraftPlus Premium on both sites, create a new backup and attempt a new migration process again.
Also, please note that UpdraftPlus licences has to be renewed annually for you to continue to receive updates and support from us.
