Hello, I am trying to migrate my live site (www.outcome-eng.com) to my staging site (staging.outcome-eng.com). The migration itself goes well. No problem. On restoration, however, there is a failure:

Error message: Could not extract file from archive.
    Error data: uploads/2016/12/RCA-Brochure_EdenPrairie_031417-Aaron-H..pdf
    Restore failed…

    Error data: uploads/2016/12/RCA-Brochure_EdenPrairie_031417-Aaron-H..pdf

The entire log of the restoration can be found here:

This has worked in the past, but has only recently been experiencing this issue. Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
A recent update to WordPress broke the ability to process files with consecutive dots (..) in the filename. The backup file in question contains a file with consecutive dots.

We have opened an issue with the WordPress developers, but a fix has not yet been released.

In the meantime, I’m afraid that you will need to restore the Uploads backup file manually.
To do so, download the file, unzip it, and then upload the contents to the ‘wp-content/uploads’ directory via FTP.

    Best Wishes,
    David N

Is there an easy way to merge the split zip files so that I can do that? There are 17 split files for the Uploads backup file…

    Hi,

I’m afraid that there isn’t an efficient way of combining zip files beyond unzipping each into the same working folder and re-zipping the result (which would defeat the point in this case).

    Best Wishes,
    David N
