    Hi, I’ve done a couple of restores today for the first time – actually database backups.

    All worked as planned (great!) but for some reason after the restore the option to restore the same backup again “disappeared” from the restore option on the backup set.

    For example, if a backup of 29/01/2017 had database, themes, plugins, uploads etc, if I restore the database then “database” is removed from the restore options leaving only themes, plugins, uploads etc.

    I don’t mean the files are nuked from my physical backup, just from the option inside updraft to restore them.

    You might ask “why do you need to restore something you’ve just restored” but with DB for example, you might if performing a lot of DB maintenance and one of your steps goes wrong.

    Hi,

    This is due to the database being rolled back to the time of the backup. UpdraftPlus stores records of backups in the database. As such, as database backup will not contain a record of itself.

    After a restoration, use the “re-scan local storage” link in the Existing Backups tab to update the list of backups. UpdraftPlus will then rediscover the restored backup files.

    I seem to have the same problem. But then with external source. My backups are moved to Rackspace. I restored the database, did some things and I want to restore the same db again but it is not shown anymore in the backup that I made yesterday. Rescanning local and external storage doesn’t fix the problem. I also logged in Rackspace and the db backup isn’t there anymore. All other parts (plugins, themes, uploads, other) are still available (in the backup section and on rackspace).

    Hi Wouter,

    The restoration should not be able to effect the backup files stored in Rackspace.
    Is there a more recent backup of the database in Rackspace?

    If so, what is the ‘retain this many backups’ option set to?
