    Hi,

After the last update all my sites are down. I get the message

There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

When I rename the plugins folder I get access, when activating all the plugins one by one everything works until I actiavte Updraftplus. Then the site turns white again with the above message.

This happened to 8 webistes on different hosts.

    All on WP 6.01 / PHP 7.4

    A solution would be appreciated

    Cheers

    Sven

    Hi,

same issue here. All sites running the current update went directly into critical error mode and could only be saved by renaming the upraftplus folder in FTP.

    Specs:
    WP 6.01 / PHP 7.4
    YooTheme

We also received an email with the following error-log in German:

    Fehler-Details
    ==============
Ein Fehler vom Typ E_ERROR wurde in der Zeile 9 der Datei /home/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/yootheme/functions.php verursacht. Fehlermeldung: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function load() on array in /home/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/yootheme/functions.php:9

    Same.

Update from 2.22.14.25 to 2.22.15.25 killed us. Renamed and downloaded “latest” version from site and installed manually. It worked! Checked version, 2.22.14.0. Noticed there was an update available to 2.22.16.25, so figured you guys found the bug and issued a patch. Updated and site crashed again. Removed 2.22.16.25 and manually reinstalled 2.22.14.0 so I can be back online again.

Update: Like others, we’re also on YooTheme

    Update:

Seems to be a YoothemePro problem: https://yootheme.com/support/question/153415

Not sure I agree. YooTheme wasn’t updated. Updraft was. Not seeing anything in that YooTheme thread indicating something is actually wrong with YooTheme. Just seems like more discussion like here about disabling updrarft.

    Hi Sven,

The published error message shows that the error is triggered by code in a YooTheme line:

Une erreur de type E_ERROR a été causée dans la ligne 9 du fichier /web/wp-content/themes/yootheme/functions.php. Message d’erreur : Uncaught Error: Call to a member function load() on array in /web/wp-content/themes/yootheme/functions.php:9

The fact that that error doesn’t occur when you have one version of UpdraftPlus installed, but do on another, means that in some way YooTheme changes (unintentionally, presumably) its behaviour in some circumstance that is related to something that the new version of UpdraftPlus is doing…. but the significant part is not that UpdraftPlus has changed something or other, it’s that YooTheme causes an error (the class of error above, called a “type error”, is always and only an error in the code that invokes it) in the resulting circumstance. So it needs a fix from YooTheme. We will be interested to know what it is exactly. Since YooTheme is a commercial-only theme, I don’t have access to a copy to test it, and I don’t see any obvious candidates in the code changes since UD 2.22.14 that I can guess might be related.

Ugh. YooTheme is not the fastest at fixing things…

    Hi all,

Here the latest from YoothemePro support:

It looks like the latest UpdraftPlus release is using set_include_path to register a lookup path for phpseclib. Unfortunately phpseclib contains a bootstrap.php file and YOOtheme Pro has a file with the same name, too. Now, when YOOtheme Pro requires its file the one from phpseclib is loaded. This of course results in an error. We will publish a hotfix to make sure YOOtheme Pro requires its own file.

You’ll certainly want to update all your sites (whether they have UpdraftPlus or not) once they release that, based on their description – it implies that their current release would crash if you have any plugin that has a file with name “bootstrap.php” in it, not just UpdraftPlus.

Since this is apparently resolved (in that nothing more can be done except to wait for the new YooThemes release), I will close this support topic now so that there aren’t lots of “me too!” responses that don’t add anything to either the investigation or response. If after updating to the latest YooThemes release you still have a problem and believe it is something UpdraftPlus should look at, please open a new topic.

    Thank you,
    David
