Split: Cannot update nor install :

My Updraft Plus plugin has vanished. I’m unable to reinstall using FTP (it doesn’t show up to activate on the plugins page when uploaded) nor using the Add New dialogs and selecting the freshly-downloaded ZIP file. This is the error received:

“Installation failed: Inactivity Timeout Inactivity Timeout Description: Too much time has passed without sending any data for document.”

This was working just fine over the last few months, but somehow it looks like an update removed it (even though the files were still on the server). GoDaddy has been of NO help with this, even though the site is hosted on their Managed WordPress platform.

From your description, it appears that an update may have failed partway, leaving the plugin in a broken state.

When attempting to install manually via FTP, make sure that unzipping the plugin file does not add an extra directory level.
When installed on the server, you should see the following structure:
wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/updraftplus.php

The plugin files should be in the wp-content/plugins/updraftplus folder directly.

The installation failed error that you are seeing in WP Admin is often the result of a security module on the server cutting the connection early, before the installation process can complete. Your hosts would need to confirm if this is the case here.
