Our site is hosted on Bluehost:
    http://www.omahablues.com

I built a vanilla WordPress installation on an Amazon Web Services instance. I installed UpdraftPlus from a recently downloaded zip file. I installed the migration add-on. I uploaded a recent full backup inc. database. I restored the database. I restored the files. But the site looks funny:
    ec2-54-186-38-97.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com

Suggestions of what to check? I’m not an experience WP developer. I am more of a system admin type for this.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Please can you link a copy of the restoration log? This can be found in the folder wp-content/updraft on the destination site (e.g. via FTP).

    Thank you.

If you migrate the files and database separately (i.e. in distinct operations), then you must either:

    1) Do the database *after* the files

    or

    2) Re-activate the plugins + theme that you were using after restoring the database

Otherwise, if you do the database first, then when WP looks in that database for the plugins + themes and finds that they are not there (because you’ve not yet restored them), they get de-activated.

Yup. That fixed it. I wiped the exist install and started over. This time I made it a point to do the files first and the database 2nd.

May I suggest highlighting this ordering in the restore guides? My files backup and database backup don’t have quite the same timestamp. So in the backups list they show as two different backups. As luck would have it, the database one came before the files one so I restored it first.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi Steve,

Glad it is working for you. I will add a note to update the restoration guides.

    Best Wishes,
