After updating wordpress and plugins, I cannot even access updraftplus to start start a backup. I get a 500 error when going to the updraftplugin.
I have disabled, uninstalled renamed the plugin folder. No luck. This is happening on more than one client site.
Over the past I have found UpdraftPlus is not completing unless I am using php5.6 php7.0 and 7.1 results in server memory errors, even when packette size is set to 25M.
Working with hosting support we also find a linux error related to a corrupted option-general.php file.
Everytime I click on an updraftplus menu item this shows up in the server error log:

March 25, 2019 at 12:04 am #367238saca.tucsonParticipantSomehow I got this going. Lost a day, darn it. It happened on 2 sites today. Anyways I also updated to the paid version, then disabled a lot of other plugins until it worked again. after selectively activating them one at a time, it is still working. Keeping fingers and toes crossed.
I am still concerned that it is not working well with php7.0 or 7.1 I heard it may have something to do with zlib compression….
Let me know if you have any ideas about that.
Thank you
March 25, 2019 at 6:22 am #367291saca.tucsonParticipantUnfortunately my earlier earlier solution only worked briefly. I am back to where clicking on the UpdraftPlus menu still results in a 500 error.
March 25, 2019 at 11:19 pm #367692saca.tucsonParticipantI am still having problems with the latest updraftplus version Version 2.16.10.24 after updating I
1) consistently get a 500 error when clicking on the updraftplus menu. I have deactivated, deleted and reinstalled several times.
If I install the more limited wordpress version it is fine, but
2) stalls consistently when uploading to my updraftvault.Wasting a lot of time on this and I see others are also having this issue. Everything was working fine before the latest update.
Please advise. For now I am installing the free version and will not be uploading to my updraftvault until I hear this issue has been addressed.
March 26, 2019 at 10:43 am #367855Bryle CroduaModeratorHi,
A ‘500 error’ is a generic error code that indicates that ‘something’ has gone wrong on the server itself.
You could contact your hosts/server admin and ask them to check the PHP error logs. The logs should contain further information on the exact error that is occurring.
Regards,
Bryle -
