I’m very frustrated. I have all the backup sets in my Dropbox. I downloaded a few days’ worth to my computer. I have restored the site from the backup sets after changing my hosting plan. All went well, but the uploads are missing. No pictures at all. I tried to restore several uploads sets a few times, including putting them in via FTP, but I keep getting errors. I’ve removed the zip file for uploads from the server and re-uploaded it, but rescanning local folder does not change it. Also the uploads zip folders from the last few days are all different sizes. Help!

May 8, 2018 at 10:19 pm #279973Terri GroverParticipantI just tried again with a different day’s uploads folder. I get the error Restore failed…
Archive is expected to be size: 71232 KB: Error: file is size: 128016 (72941568, 131088384)
Error data: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signatureMay 8, 2018 at 11:53 pm #279982Terri GroverParticipantNote as well, alk the uploads are showing in the Media Library as gray boxes. And for some reason, my new site is listed as http://www.mainebodyworks, where the old one (and the picture addresses) show as https://mainebodyworks.com. Ant 6 suggestions? I’ve begun manually uploading the pictures from the uploads.zip folder, which does extract, and does contain all my uploads! Grrrrrr…

Apologies for the inconvenience.
I’m afraid that there is not much that can be done after a backup file has been corrupted.
However, if you still have the backup logs, please could you send them to us, so we can try and determine the cause?
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

I have not had a chance to look back until this morning, and now I do not see the logs for the restoration, since the site has been backing up since that date. If you can tell me how to get those, I’ll be happy to paste them for you. I made an error in my report about the url. When I did the restore, there was a note that said that the current url was slightly different: http://www.mainebodyworks.com as opposed to https://mainebodyworks.com, but that it should not have an effect. And when I go to the site now, it does list in the https://mainebodyworks.com/ so I don’t know what that was about.
The backups of the uploads folder failed with two different backups: May 7th and May 8th. I had done two to be sure I wouldn’t run into this issue. I saved the backups to my computer rather than leaving them in Dropbox, where they would be overwritten. The zip folder DOES extract and all my pictures are there and clearly visible. This is the second site where I have had issues with the uploads during a restore. Is there a general problem with this? Can I upload the actual picture files via FTP to the WP-uploads folder in my server and have the pictures show properly, or do I need to upload them individually through WordPress (ugh!!). Please advise asap. Thanks.

I uploaded all the picture folders from the backup files to the server in the wp-content/uploads folder and all the pictures are now on the site. Whew! I would strongly advise you to instruct customers to save the backup folders to their computers before attempting restore functions and make sure they unzip and all uploads are visible. I am a big user and promoter of UpdraftPlus so I sure don’t want to have to go through this each time I migrate.

Glad that you were able to restore the images.
I’ll make a note to look into improving the restoration instructions.

David NMay 11, 2018 at 5:21 pm #280663Terri GroverParticipantHi, David,
Yes, I was. I have a much more difficult situation now. There is a subdomain on this host, https://migis.mainebodyworks.com. I recreated that subdomain after downloading fresh backup files with Updraft Plus from there. I cannot see how to attach files here. I have tried to restore several times, always with errors. I have submitted a fresh support request on this issue, if you have access to those. I am very concerned that this entire site may be lost because the Updraft Plus is not correctly backing up and/or downloads are not working properly. I sure hope you can help me.May 12, 2018 at 4:29 pm #280792udadminKeymasterHi Terri,
To attach files, use a service like Dropbox to share them, and post the link (as a private reply if you prefer).
