Just a general question – and not urgent

I updated to WP 3.7, then got automatically updated to 3.7.1. So far, so good.

I have the premium version, thus get and automatic backup done before updating any plugins and themes (which is fab!) but would this work for WP itself too, now that it’s auto-updating?

I could of course be fussing over nothing, but I know from bitter experience how awful it feels when an update is applied, causes problems and there is no back up … (been there, do not want to go back!)

    thanks

    Hi Jenny,

The automatic backup add-on only adds a backup to operations that you perform through the dashboard. Updates in the background (e.g. the WP automatic update) aren’t preceded by a backup. I think we’re going to wait and see if there’s demand for it – because, you can already have automatic backups via the normal scheduler feature; if you’ve already got a daily backup of your database, then a further backup when WP auto-updates seems redundant.

Thanks David – that’s helpful. I agree on the wait and see approach.

    Kindest
