Hello, All. I’m working with a site that’s not yet released to the public which is probably why I’m getting the following error:

Warning: WordPress has a number (1973) of scheduled tasks which are overdue. Unless this is a development site, this probably means that the scheduler in your WordPress install is not working. Read this page for a guide to possible causes and how to fix it.

I’ve gone through the article link within the line and confirmed that I don’t have any cron’s disabled. Since it’s only me visiting the site, I’m sure it’s not enough traffic to fire off the backups.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to overcome this.

I’m unclear from your description – are your backups working? Or is it just the message that’s troubling you?

P.S. To list all the tasks in your WP scheduler, use the free plugin “WP Crontrol” – install, and go to Tools -> Crontrol.

Hello, David. Thanks much for replying.

The backups work if I fire them off manually. However, they appear to be running behind when scheduled. For example, if I schedule a daily backup and today is the 20th, UpdraftPlus thinks it’s supposed to back up two days ago and is missing the schedule.

However, thanks to your great input about WP Crontrol, I found out that the WP SEO plugin was the culprit. I successfully deleted almost 2,000 cronjobs pending from that plugin from the database and am no longer seeing that issue. I temporarily deactivated that plugin for now until I launch the site. Now, gonna see if the scheduled backups will work.
