Rackspace Cloud Files users will be pleased to know that the next release of UpdraftPlus has two new features:

1) You can select a storage region for your container… instead of just the default (Dallas), you can choose for your container to be based in one of Rackspace’s other locations (Sydney, Chicago, Northern Virginia, Hong Kong):

Rackspace Cloud Regions

2) You can also now enter credentials (username and API key) for secondary users on your Rackspace account (see: https://www.rackspace.com/blog/rackspace-cloudvent-calendar-day-7-lock-it-down-role-based-access-control/). This means that you can have one Rackspace account (for billing), but set up users who can only access one container (e.g. each of your managed clients gets their own access details to their own container which contains their own backups – and they cannot access anything except their own container).

These two improvements were made possible because, under the hood, we’ve created a totally new Rackspace module, using Rackspace’s new SDK (https://docs.rackspace.com/sdks/guide/content/php.html). This is only supported if your web server is running PHP 5.3.3 or later; but don’t fear; if it is not then the old Rackspace module will still be available, and all will continue for you as before.

This new Rackspace module was funded by an UpdraftPlus user who needed these two features – thanks to Terrier Tenacity. If you have new features which your clients urgently need, then do get in touch for a conversation about the possibilities.
