Some WordPress backup plugins are paid-only – there’s no free version available. Others are free-only – there’s nobody whose job or livelihood is on the line if they fail you.

Less corner-cases are found; fewer exotic setups are tested out; and as a result, the paid plugin cannot realistically be as widely tested. No matter how much testing you try to do on your own systems (and we’re sure our competitors do as much as they can, as we do), you can’t begin to dream of replicating the huge variety of what’s out there in the real world.
