When moving content from localhost to a production data center, it would be very helpful to EXCLUDE one or more plugins. Typically, a plugin exclusion may be needed for scenarios where the localhost plugin settings differ from the production settings. A security plugin is a good example – localhost settings may differ somewhat from production. Localhost may be more relaxed or not need a specific API call to a production cloud or content delivery network, web firewall etc. Further, localhost may not even need a license “key” whereas production does. There are occasions where attempting to “match up” a local plugin with production needs introduces security risks. I.e. – technician forgets that the localhost settings will overwrite the production plugin settings (big oops at minimum).
