    Ooohh I’m down to one hair left. I have WP on my local host, Ive tested it and everything works, now I want to upload it to a live site. Problem. it will backup no problem ( though now I can’t see where I can find the zipped file i chose remote storage to none)I ‘m baffled as to why there is a clone/migrate button when this text comes up.

    “Migration of data from another site happens through the “Restore” button. A “migration” is ultimately the same as a restoration – but using backup archives that you import from another site. UpdraftPlus modifies the restoration operation appropriately, to fit the backup data to the new site. Read this article to see step-by-step how it’s done.”

    I’ve followed your instructions about starting with a clean WP and nothing has uploaded, maybe I am just not “getting it” but I am trying to make my life easier not harder
    please help

    It sounds like you have… but if so, which step is the one at which you are stuck? It sounds like it’s the “uploading” step (step 3) – what happens when you perform the sub-steps? i.e. When you drag-drop, what do you actually see happening on your screen? Can you send a screenshot?

    I’m have quite a bit of difficulty David. I can’t even find out how to post a new thread to your forum. So I’m replying here as a comment but really I’m asking for help. I’ve scoured and poured over your instructions for migrator, but it’s still not working on my site. So when I created the backup from my original site it put my uploads into 4 files. However, it appears to only upack the first of the 4 upload files when the restore takes place. So none of the images are working on my site.

    Hello, I am getting the same problem, when I try uploading the files from copy.com
    the error message i get is :
    Upload error (code -601) : File extension error. (make sure that you were trying to upload a zip file previously created by UpdraftPlus)

    the extensions from the back up downloads are like this:

    backup_2015-01-22-1113_ALEF_DESIGNS_SHOP_fb68eb528c92-db

    what am i doing wrong?

    Hi Aless,

    Something on your computer is automatically changing the downloaded database file. It should be called:

    backup_2015-01-22-1113_ALEF_DESIGNS_SHOP_fb68eb528c92-db.gz

    It looks like something decompressed it and made it into:

    backup_2015-01-22-1113_ALEF_DESIGNS_SHOP_fb68eb528c92-db

    To prevent that, you can instead get the db.gz file by using FTP to get it from wp-content/updraft on the source site (instead of getting it from the UpdraftPlus page in the dashboard).
