    Hi David

I think my questions best fits in here.

    Did I get this right?
The backup is always just stored on the folder ‘www/my-domain.com/wp-content/updraft/’ of the page where UpdraftPlus is installed?
If I use UpdraftCentral there are no backup stored in the UpdraftCentral-environment?

    Regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    Apologies for the delay.

Yes, if no remote storage location is selected, all backups will be stored in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of the site. (The location can be changed in the advanced settings with the ‘Backup Directory’ option)

No backups are stored in the UpdraftCentral environment if using UpdraftCentral.

    Hi David

Thanks for your answer. This software and the support is great. :-)

    Just a follow up.
I did not test the following and just ask it here to be sure.

On the top of every website backup configuration I can define the backup rotation (File backup scheduling + database backup scheduling: “[…] starting from next time it is[…])

If I remove the checkbox “Delete local backup” (in German: “Lösche lokale Sicherung”), is the backup rotation on top also affected to the local backup or only the remote backup?

In the following feature request does someone ask to differ the timerange of local and remote backup: https://updraftplus.com/feature-requests/request/number-of-backups-to-keep-on-site-vs-remote-storage/
I can guess that this means the backup rotation for local and remote backups is the same, but I’m not 100% sure.. :-)

Maybe you can add this information (“backup rotation configuration on top is also affected”) in the description of the button “delete local backup”.

    Thanks.

    Regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Disabling the ‘Delete local backup’ option will mean all backups will also be stored on the server. (This is because backups are created on the server, uploaded to remote storage, and then deleted from the server).

However, this means that local copies of backup files will never be automatically deleted, included when old backups are pruned.

We have the suggested feature in our possible improvements list, but is unfortunately a major project due to the way UpdraftPlus is structured.

    Hi David

    Thanks for the explanation.
That’s fine. We arrange our backup plan to the given things. We can handle this. :-)

    Best Wishes
    Michael
