I find your cloning/migration process very convoluted in order to set up a simple test area to try out a few new ideas before implementing them on my production site. It entails a whole process of creating new folders, installing WordPress, installing and re-installing Updraft, copying keys across, etc.
Whilst I acknowledge this is necessary in several cases, I find it over the top when I need to just quickly try a few ideas before putting into production.
Can you please consider implementing something simple like the WP Staging plugin?
Thanks.
Hi Len,
Good news: such a project is already at an advanced stage! You’re correct that the current staging/migration capability in UD isn’t great if you just want a temporary copy of your site to test something on. It was more intended for people creating a one-off permanent copy. And hence, we’ve been working on something that fits your use case.

Hello guys,
1.- Do you have a estimate time to launch this feature? I’m about to buy a staging plugin.
2.- This feature is going to be included in UpdraftPremium ?
Thanls
Hi faor1987,
1. It won’t be in the next release (which is likely to be next week), but hopefully in the one after that.
2. Since creating a clone of your website on managed/hosted infrastructure isn’t just a software function, credits for using the feature will be a separate purchase. But it’s likely (details not yet decided) that purchases of UpdraftPlus Premium will include at least some credits to allow people to experience the feature.

Fantastic. Looking forward to it. Len
